I feel powerful when I think of all the Purépecha women in my life who continue to influence my identity as Purépecha. They have taught me that the art of needlework, the food we prepare, the songs we sing and dance to, the language we speak, the laughs we share is what sustains our indigenous culture despite over 500 years of colonialism. We are here, and it is because of the strength and vision of Purépecha women.
