3rd Annual International Human Rights Day

  • SEIU 503 HALL 6401 Southeast Foster Road Portland, OR, 97206 United States (map)

International Human Rights Day is observed by the international community every year on December 10 to commemorate the United Nations General Assembly adoption of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights in 1948. It is a day of solidarity and remembrance of people all over the world who continue to be oppressed by human rights violations - those who are systematically marginalized, disappeared, imprisoned, and killed.

In July 2016, members of PortlandCHRP - Portland Committee for Human Rights in the Philippines, GABRIELA Portland, Interfaith Movement for Immigrant Justice, Portland Rising Tide, Students United for Palestinian Equal Rights (SUPER), and community members participated in exposure and solidarity trips hosted by the International Coalition for Human Rights in the Philippines. In the wake of our recent International Solidarity Mission (ISM) in the Philippines and the continuing work of our allies, we call all justice loving people and organizations in Portland to rise together with us on December 10 for a solidarity mission reportback and cultural night, featuring solidarity statements and cultural presentations from organizational representatives and community members.
