Unite to Resist Fascism and Imperialism
The people’s resistance survives and thrives in an emergent era of Imperialism. Now is the time to organize!
The recent election of Donald Trump, and the heightened resistance that has accompanied it, is the result of the weakening crisis hold of U.S. monopoly capitalism: imperialism.
Driving geo-politics and social policy worldwide for the past century, U.S. imperialism has forced a system of corporatist tyranny upon billions. But at this time, the US global hegemony is slipping--while countries with imperialist aspirations and tendencies continue to grow, overproduction within the U.S. continues to increase and the struggle of workers for a liveable wage, health care, and other basic rights deepens.
The result of such economics is class struggle; the wealthiest react with state violence and fascism as they use racism, xenophobia, and homophobia and hate crimes as a way to disperse and subjugate working class movements within the U.S. As the elite see the crumbling of the U.S., they increase the privatization of reactionary police and military forces, seeking to squash resistance while profiting from violence. This was very evident in recent protests in our march against Fascism, when Portland Police used tear gas, flash bang grenades, and peppery spray to declare the peaceful protest unlawful.
From the Philippines to all over the U.S., millions have arisen to unite against the new Trump Administration. As a member of the International League of People Struggles Struggles and Bayan USA, Portland Committee for Human Rights in the Philippines united with the masses in Portland, OR, to march in resistance to Trump, Fascism, and the failing Imperialist state, joining in contingent and solidarity with Anakbayan Portland and Showing Up for Racial Justice - Portland.
When fascism rises, so do the people in resistance, knowing resistance is the only way forward.
We commend the millions who are joining resistance and linking in solidarity with all oppressed people, and we unite with all in hopes of ending the regime of Trump and fascism. As so many mobilize, we also call our comrades to unite not only against Trump, but the whole imperialist system that paved the road to his election with neoliberalism, the increasing of corporate rights and the exploitation of workers all over the world. Portland Filipinos and allies will continue to march ahead by the people's side, united and ready to fight the fascists.
We will not stay quiet when our communities are under attack.
We will rise up. We will fight back.
"To march is to act, to do something. To march ahead is to see a day where neutrality is no longer a stance. To be by the people's side is to stand united in our struggles of the most oppressed,” said Nikki De Leon, Chairperson of Portland Committee for Human Rights in the Philippines. Our only way to the people’s victory is through the broadest possible formation against imperialism.
Build the United Front against Fascism!
Unite with the broadest masses against Imperialism!
Long live international solidarity!
